We’re Talkin Olde School

Brand new to the corner of State and Court Streets in New Haven, Connecticut is a brand new eatery.

The Olde School Saloon and Bistro opened up for the first time this week and seeing that it was a hop, skip, and a jump down from WTNH-TV, Noah Finz, Geoff Fox and I tried it out.

It was delicious from the apps to the salad to the entree.

This is a dream come true according to the Chef and owner, Jeffrey Arnold and his partner, Adam Ganzle. Adam is also wearing the Front of the House Manager and Bartender roles for now. Both are really working hard to make the place a favorite in the neighborhood.

The Italian eatery has a very cozy 40-seat dining room with antique accents including stained glass windows.

You get it all here a light breakfast, lunches and dinners.

Adam says they’re doing their best to attract the early morning train crowd as they head to the nearby State Street train station. You can get your coffee on the run which to me is a great asset in the morning, I gotta have a jolt to get the motor running.

This establishment takes the place of the former Roberto’s which was a breakfast and lunch place. It now looks totally different inside.

The bar or saloon on the other side of the eatery is an altogether different look.

I could see kind of a “Cheers” show thing happening in there…a really nice sit-around tall bar has been added…you know, picture Norm and Cliff hanging out with those beers in front of them. A place where everybody knows your name.

Give it a go the next time you’re in the News Channel 8 neighborhood.

This is def off-topic, but you don’t know how many times I’ve watched you on air and missed what you were saying for a bit because of the cool necklace you were wearing! I often wonder if you have a designer connection considering the uniqueness of the pieces you wear. If you’d like to share your sources with readers, that would be wonderful.

    Dear Stone,
You know, I just find the necklace here there and everywhere. I’m a huge fan of vintage and rhinestones and many times I mix two necklaces together.
No, I don’t have a designer, just picking up what feels right and is affordable.
    Thanks for writing in.
