At Home With Buck Hollywood (Michael Buckley)

I haven’t had this much fun, well since I don’t know. I  drove up on April Fool’s day to Michael Buckley at home in central, Connecticut to see what Michael Buckley’s “What The Buck” world is all about .

I met him the other night for dinner at the Greek Olive Diner in New Haven and was so intrigued by what he has created, well I just had to see for myself.

He is a gleeful kind of Wizard of Oz, not “behind” the curtain, but in “front” of it, and the curtain is green. “Green” because it’s his “green screen” which allows him to work all of his magic on his You Tube vlogs. Millions are following him, even some of you reading this.
Michael is a You Tube phenomenon and he’s having a ball with it. He’s coming to you live at various times of the day and night from a spare bedroom in his home and he, and you, are loving it. Millions are caring about  his dishing on Hollywood and Dancing With The Stars and anything else he finds exciting.

Michael has figured out how to drive traffic on the web right into a lucrative job, we should all learn from him.

This psychology major from Saint Anselm College says he’s thrilled with the way life has turned out so far, even though it has taken twists and turns. He’s creating something that is all his own and is being careful about saying yes or no to the opportunities that are coming his way.

“What The Buck” got started on public access in Wallingford, Connecticut in 2005 . He took the weekly one hour show so seriously even at that level, that he spent about 12 hours on each show planning how it would be put together. He would go on the air and make fun of local news shows. In 2006 a clip went up on You Tube and that began his love affair with his online life. In November of that year he got 200,000 views on a clip he did on a controversy that erupted about Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce and some infighting on the set of the movie Dream Girls ,that was his eureka moment, he knew things were headed somewhere. His adrenaline started pumping and to date, he has one You Tube clip that has been viewed 9 million times.

So Michael spends his days and nights tweeting, facebooking, vloging, blogging, emailing and watching TV so that he can make fun of all of that.

He’s the host of the popular “What the Buck Show” on You Tube and on Blog TV and you can find him on Twitter @buckhollywood You can find him everywhere actually, just Google him.

Above all, Michael loves his kids, his dogs, three boys and a girl, and thinks it’s great that he can work from home and spend time with them.

Truly Michael Buckley is a big deal. He gets paid to tweet on Twitter. Can you say that? When I was over at his house, he had a post -it note on his counter to remind him he had to put out one such tweet straight up a noon because he knew someone was writing him a check for that. Such power!

I thought it might be fun to show you “What The Buck” headquarters. His home is cozy and warm and you could move right in. It looks like it’s right out of House Beautiful. I would say it’s a combination Hollywood-Restoration Hardware feel and staged perfectly.

Michael doesn’t have an agent, but thinks it might be time to get one and is talking to someone pretty seriously. I think at this point that might be a really good idea, but only if that person follows his instructions, because up to now, he’s done pretty darn well.

Thanks for having me over, Michael, I can’t wait to see where you take you millions of followers next.
