Mom And Daughter Whip Up A Business

This is a post about a cottage industry started by Betty Ogden and her daughter, Jeanne Petrillo of Shelton, Connecticut. I got talking with Betty who was working over at the Jones Winery in Shelton when I was there the other day, and we struck up a conversation. Betty was telling me about the business she was starting up.

Betty told me she and her daughter are enjoying the fact that others are liking their product. I told Betty to get some ideas on pricing on the very popular web site ETSY, which is all about hand-made everything from around the world.

Betty and Jeanne, who is a nurse, and mother of two teenagers, are whipping up these two products so far and they are finding that folks are looking for hand-made affordable gifts.

Betty sent me a sample in the mail and I immediately had to put it on my sewing mannequin and take some shots so you too could see what they’re doing. The aprons are reversible for one thing which you don’t see very often, and are beautifully done. I sew, so I know what I’m talking about here.

Aprons are back my friends, just as the Apron Lady knows. She was chronicled in a story on CBS Sunday Morning.

They’re also making an item they’re calling “Snappy Bag.” This would be great for make-up, or gifts bridesmaids.

I can see all kinds of possibilities for these items for wedding showers and cooking classes. Betty and Jeanne can use any maerial you might like.

I you want to inquire with the gals you can email Betty at bttybp519@sbcglobal.net or Jeanne at jlp1963@sbcglobal.net.
