A.D. Calvo is Making Thrillers
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina but raised for most of his life in Stamford, Connecticut, Alejandro Daniel (A.D.) Calvo is making thrillers, you know the kind of film not for the faint of heart.
Calvo, who now resides in Wallingford, Connecticut, calls his genre “dark romantic fantasy” akin to a movies made by directors, Alfred Hitchcock or Tim Burton. Think along the lines of Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands.”
Calvo spent about 20 years as a computer, software specialist, but when his father died at the age of 40, he realized just how short life was. He decided that to continue doing IT work was not his passion. So, he took his technological background and his knowledge of digital and picked up a camera and started making films.
The first film he made was “The Other Side of the Tracks.” It was shot in the summer of 2007 and is finally getting some traction. It’s first commercial airing will be on Showtime on December 2nd, 2010.
It is also being released worldwide on DVD.
Calvo’s second movie, is “The Melancholy Fantastic” about a doll that gets out of control, you’ll watch the trailer below to see what kind of mayhem develops. Calvo is currently trying to get this into a big Film Festival.
Calvo does it all, he writes the story lines for the films, directs them and produces them too, and that doesn’t even count developing the promotional materials. You guessed it he makes the posters too, some of which are two sided. If they’re put in a window you see the name of the film from either side.
The name of his company is Goodnight Film and the logo is a jagged quarter moon, perfect don’t you think for what he’s doing.
Calvo is a soft spoken family man, who is the proud owner of “Munchkin” a Scottish Fold cat. It’s my guess she’s seen her share of spooky filmS in the household enough to leave her quote ho-hum on the matter.

Continued good luck! We need spooky films.
If that cat is a Scottish Fold, however, it has had it’s ears ‘done’. SF cat’s ears don’t stand up like that… Cute little bugger…
Steve,
Thanks for reading, I know that A.D. will appreciate your encouragement.
