Sinatra Meets “Mad Men” Style

No kitsch here, instead real mid century everything in a place called Irwin Feld Design~Mid Century Antiques. Walking into this gallery full of right-up-my alley-kind-of style, you could imagine Frank Sinatra walking around on a “Mad Men” TV production set. By the way, Sinatra’s favorite color was orange, that wouldn’t be a problem to find here.

Speaking of television, Irwin Feld would like a TV show thank you very much to show off what he knows about this style of furniture and lighting, he’s a modernist. He says he was well before his time in collecting all of this stuff and is proud of it. This is a guy who doesn’t mince words, and I think he would be stellar in a TV show. I saw that for myself when I had him tour me around. So, just in case a TV producer is looking for a new show, here you go!

Irwin and Marcy Feld, have been married for thirty years and have three sons. In a past life they were in jewelry design, and ready-to-wear,  but now they are here in their gorgeous place in Stamford, Connecticut. They have teamed up with Mid Century Antiques owner, Steve Cassler.

I told this trio this place would be great for events as they look to get more foot traffic thru the door.

The deal here is that all of the furniture and lighting is authentic, but has been, in the case of the lighting, totally rewired and updated. In the case of the furniture it has been updated with gorgeous new upholstery. The cool thing is that all the furniture in the store was made in America. When is that last time that you heard that?

Pink is a big color here because it signifies breast cancer awareness and they are all about being philanthropic in that area. You will see in Irwin’s video below, a pink bench that they’re trying to sell and give all the proceeds to Connecticut’s Susan G Komen chapter to further cancer research.

This is a fun space to be in, yesteryear is your thing. And now I present Irwin Feld….

A wonderful mid-century resource! I didn’t know about Irwin Feld and now I do. Irwin, I am absolutely in love with the Italian chairs from the 50s, and all of your pink. Especially the pink curvy chaise. Thanks for this post, Ann.
